Punjab AAP President and Minister Aman Arora appealed to Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) employees to halt their statewide strike. Arora emphasized the strike’s negative impact on farmers during the critical paddy transplantation season and the disruption of essential services for nearly three crore people. He highlighted that a committee, formed 25 days ago at the unions’ request, is actively addressing the employees’ pending demands, with the government committed to accepting genuine recommendations.
Arora expressed concern over the strike that began on July 21, causing significant inconvenience to Punjab residents, especially farmers. The ongoing paddy transplantation season’s crucial phase has been further complicated by the electricity service disruptions. Arora underscored that the Bhagwant Mann government prioritizes the welfare of all sections of society, citing various pro-employee decisions taken since assuming office. He mentioned the government’s efforts in providing jobs to youth, regularizing contractual employees, and resolving long-standing employee demands across departments.
The Cabinet Minister clarified that a special committee, including representatives from the government and unions, was formed around 20 to 25 days ago at the unions’ request to address remaining demands. Comprising officials from Finance, Power, and Personnel Departments, along with union representatives, the committee has been actively discussing the issues. Arora assured that the government is open to considering all genuine demands with understanding and a positive outlook.
