Punjab and Vidarbha have advanced to the semifinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 after decisive wins in the quarterfinals. Punjab, led by Prabhsimran Singh, dominated Madhya Pradesh with a resounding 183-run victory. Meanwhile, Vidarbha, captained by Ishant Sharma, outperformed Delhi by 76 runs to secure their spot in the next round.
The semifinal lineup is now complete with Karnataka set to face Vidarbha on January 15 and Saurashtra to take on Punjab on January 16. Punjab’s strong batting display, led by Prabhsimran Singh’s century and contributions from Nehal Wadhera and Anmolpreet Singh, propelled them to a formidable total of 345 for six in their 50 overs against Madhya Pradesh.
In response, Madhya Pradesh faltered in their chase, managing only 162 runs before being bowled out. Sanvir Singh starred with the ball for Punjab, claiming three crucial wickets. Vidarbha, on the other hand, posted 300 for nine against Delhi, with Yash Rathod and Atharva Taide leading the charge with significant contributions.
Delhi’s batting struggled as they lost wickets early on, eventually falling short at 224 all out. Vidarbha’s bowlers, particularly Nachiket Bhute and Harsh Dubey, shone brightly, securing the team’s victory and a spot in the semifinals.
