The Punjab BJP accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of showing a lack of respect for Sikh beliefs and Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The state BJP spokesperson criticized a program called ‘Village Guards’ under the “War Against Drugs — II” campaign for depicting the holy scripture in a cartoonish manner, which he deemed sacrilegious.
According to the spokesperson, the portrayal of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and a Granthi Singh in a derogatory way goes against Sikh principles and traditions. He highlighted that this incident has deeply offended the Sikh community in Punjab and beyond, emphasizing that any misrepresentation of the sacred scripture is unacceptable.
The BJP spokesperson expressed disappointment that senior AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, did not intervene to prevent the objectionable depiction. The BJP condemned the incident and demanded a public apology from the AAP leadership to the Sikh community. They also called for the immediate withdrawal of all offensive material and accountability for those responsible.
