Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar criticized the Aam Aadmi Party for creating distractions from real issues. He assured that under PM Modi’s leadership, the BJP would not allow this diversion. Jakhar pledged to resolve pending dues for over 3 lakh employees and 4 lakh pensioners in Punjab.
He highlighted that the High Court had mandated the release of Rs 15,000 crore in pending dearness allowance to employees and pensioners by June 30. However, the government has sought a review of this directive. Jakhar pointed out that despite promises, the AAP government has not addressed the employment-related concerns as pledged by Arvind Kejriwal before the elections.
Jakhar emphasized the significance of dearness allowance as a rightful entitlement for employees, not a charitable offering. He criticized the Punjab government for challenging the provision of granting dearness allowance. Jakhar noted disparities in dearness allowance percentages, with Punjab employees receiving less than those in neighboring regions.
Assuring employees of improvement, Jakhar mentioned the BJP’s commitment to rectifying the situation and ensuring timely dearness allowance disbursements. He drew parallels with the situation in West Bengal, where BJP’s intervention was sought due to similar issues faced by employees in Punjab.
