The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has endorsed administrative and governance reforms to enhance citizens’ interactions with the government. Among the decisions made, Banur will be upgraded to a tehsil in Mohali district, Hariana established as a new sub-tehsil in Hoshiarpur, and amendments proposed to modernize land revenue laws using digital records. These changes reflect a commitment to prioritizing citizen-centric and service-oriented governance.
The approved amendments to the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887, specifically address the appeals process, aiming to reduce litigation, save time for litigants, and prevent harassment of non-litigants. By providing legal recognition to digital records and signatures, the reforms promote paperless record-keeping and enhance transparency in land administration. Additionally, the government has introduced an e-services portal to simplify land-related procedures for residents.
In a move to support contractual Special Teacher Educators under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan, the Cabinet has allowed a one-time relaxation in the upper age limit for their regularisation in the Department of School Education. This decision ensures the continuity of inclusive education for special children by retaining skilled educators, without imposing any additional financial burden on the state exchequer.
