Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated the construction of a Rs 14.63 crore sports stadium in Sangrur, emphasizing a significant effort to enhance the state’s youth engagement in sports, health, and discipline. The state-of-the-art facility, situated on 4.38 acres in Satouj, will provide professional training and accommodate various sports such as badminton, handball, judo, netball, and basketball.
Chief Minister Mann highlighted the pivotal role of sports in combating drug-related issues, stressing the importance of accessible high-quality sports infrastructure and robust educational systems in guiding youth towards purposeful lives, excellence, and international recognition, thereby contributing to a healthier Punjab. Describing the occasion as historic for the region, he noted the stadium’s cost and size, mentioning the inclusion of a 200-meter athletic track, a pavilion for spectators and players, and a versatile indoor sports hall.
Underlining the significance of holistic growth, Chief Minister Mann underscored that the combination of quality education and sports facilities enables children to bring pride to their communities, states, and nation on a global scale.
