Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema has raised concerns about the BJP-led Central government’s treatment of Punjab ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Moga. Cheema accused the Centre of discriminating against Punjab and hindering its economic growth despite its historical contributions to the nation. He highlighted the withholding of funds, including the Rural Development Fund, and attempts to weaken Punjab’s water rights.
Cheema emphasized that Punjab has always supported the nation, from the freedom movement to agricultural contributions, but the Centre is sidelining the state. He criticized the delay in releasing Punjab’s dues under various schemes and questioned the impact of proposed India-US trade agreements on Indian farmers. Cheema demanded clear answers from BJP leaders at the upcoming rally regarding these pressing issues.
