In an effort to facilitate the safe return of Punjab citizens stuck in West Asia, the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has assigned two senior state officers to oversee the process. A 24×7 helpline has been set up promptly as per the Chief Minister’s directives.
The helpline’s overall management is under Additional Director General of Police R.K. Jaiswal, while Department of Home Affairs Secretary, Vimal Setia, serves as the nodal officer for coordination and monitoring. The nodal officer will maintain close contact with the Ministry of External Affairs.
Responsibilities include monitoring the Union government’s evacuation efforts and ensuring the safety of Indians in West Asia and other nations. All helpline calls will be documented and addressed promptly, with the nodal officer prioritizing any matters requiring attention from relevant authorities.
Chief Minister Mann emphasized the urgency of the situation for Punjab residents stranded in West Asia and beyond. The government’s primary goal is to provide essential aid and assistance to affected individuals and their families during this challenging and unforeseen crisis. Punjab authorities are fully committed to supporting Punjabi nationals in the Gulf region.
