In response to allegations of using force against protesting sanitation workers in Barnala, the Punjab government has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satbir Singh Bains. This action follows the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) Vice-Chairperson Hardeep Singh Gill’s directive to submit a report within seven days regarding the incident. Gill highlighted the importance of upholding the rights and security of Safai Karamcharis.

The NCSK emphasized the need for a fair inquiry into the alleged police actions and requested a detailed report from the Director General of Police (DGP) within the specified timeframe. Stressing the significance of resolving such issues through dialogue rather than force, Gill urged for accountability and transparency in the investigation. The commission vowed to oversee the matter to ensure justice for the affected sanitation workers and adherence to the law.
