Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak has called on the Union government to guarantee the availability of crucial items like LPG, petrol, and diesel amidst the tense situation in West Asia. Chairing a meeting with officials from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL, he stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to maintain a steady supply and prevent public distress.
Minister Kataruchak highlighted the necessity for uninterrupted access to essential goods, stating, “The Union government needs to ensure that there is no scarcity of LPG, petrol, and diesel to avoid inconvenience to the public.” He further urged the Union government’s high-powered committee to stay alert and take essential actions to uphold ample supplies during this period.
Emphasizing the need to prevent public panic due to the volatile situation in West Asia, Minister Kataruchak directed senior department officials to closely monitor the district-level scenario. He instructed them to organize meetings with Deputy Commissioners and District Food Supply Controllers, involving gas company representatives for seamless coordination.
Warning against any attempts to manipulate essential goods’ supply, the Minister issued a strict warning that violators would face severe consequences. He emphasized, “There should be no illegal hoarding of essential items, and strict action will be taken against any individuals engaged in such activities.”
