Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) captured four individuals following a brief shootout near the Sirhind Canal Link Road in Bathinda. The Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav disclosed that the apprehended suspects are Gurdeep Singh, Sukhchain Singh, Gurvinder Singh, and Jashanpreet Singh, all hailing from villages in Bathinda. Among the seized items were a 9MM Glock, a .30 bore pistol, five cartridges, and two empty shells. Additionally, the police impounded the suspects’ two motorcycles.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals are associated with a criminal network and are wanted in a recent case filed at the Bhagta Bhaika police station in Bathinda. The police are actively pursuing further investigations to establish connections, identify additional accomplices, and dismantle the broader criminal syndicate.
The Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban detailed that a team from AGTF Bathinda engaged in pursuit of the suspects on motorcycles. Upon encountering the police near Gobindpura village, the suspects fired at the police team in an attempt to flee. In response, the AGTF personnel fired back in self-defense. During the exchange, one suspect sustained a leg injury, and two bullets hit the police vehicle. The injured suspect is receiving medical treatment at the local Civil Hospital.
It has been revealed that the arrested individuals were en route to eliminate a member of a rival gang. Notably, the apprehended suspects have a criminal record with multiple cases on file.
