Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force, along with Ferozepur Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police, has captured two shooters from Rajasthan linked to the murder of a shopkeeper in Ferozepur. The arrested individuals are Vishnu Kumar from Rupbas, Bharatpur, and Rahul Mahawar from Anantpura, Kota. A Beretta pistol and cartridges were seized from their possession.
The shooters, arriving on a motorcycle, fatally shot Gurcharan Singh Gaba, the owner of Gaba General Store in Makhu village on June 1. Vishnu Kumar, one of the accused, has a criminal history involving various offenses and was carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 declared by the Rajasthan Police. Further investigations are ongoing.
Following the incident, a special operation named “Hill Trap” was initiated by the AGTF Punjab, leading to the discovery of the accused’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir. A joint operation was conducted by AGTF Punjab, Ferozepur Police, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, resulting in the arrest of the shooters at a checkpoint near Kud Police Station. The police teams successfully apprehended the accused and recovered the pistol.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Ferozepur) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu mentioned that the focus now shifts to unraveling the broader conspiracy behind the attack, including identifying those involved in planning, financing, or facilitating the crime.
