Punjab Police made a significant breakthrough by dismantling an interstate illegal weapons supply network and apprehending two individuals from Uttar Pradesh. The authorities seized 10 country-made pistols of 7.65 MM caliber and 20 magazines from the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Dalesh Kumar and Amit Chahar, residents of Aligarh and Agra, respectively.
The operation followed the recent arrest of two BKI operatives who were involved in placing grenades and an IED near Balachaur under the instructions of their foreign-based handler, Jassi Kulam. The recovered weapons were linked to an explosion at a police station in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. The police arrested the accused in Mathura and recovered five pistols and 10 magazines from Dalesh Kumar’s vehicle.
Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of five more pistols and 10 magazines from the Mathura-Palwal highway, bringing the total count to 10 pistols and 20 magazines. The arrested individuals from Uttar Pradesh were found to be working for foreign-based criminals in Germany and the US, supplying arms to criminal groups in Punjab. They were also involved in weapon procurement and extortion-related activities in Garhshankar.
The Punjab Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at a police station in Amritsar in connection with the arrests.
