Punjab Police made a significant breakthrough by dismantling a major inter-state, foreign-linked narcotics and illegal arms module. Four operatives were apprehended, and authorities seized 9.925 kg of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and 40 cartridges. The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, disclosed these details in Chandigarh.
The arrested individuals, identified as Manjinder Singh, Shivam Bhandari, Sahil Masih, and Ramel Roger, were allegedly local handlers for foreign-based gangsters. They were involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons supply in the region. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik shared that the arrests were made following a tip-off, leading to the interception of a car in Garhshankar. The operation resulted in the recovery of the illicit substances and weapons from the vehicle. Sahil Masih, one of the detainees, has a history of criminal activities, including involvement in a firing incident with the police in Batala district.
Authorities anticipate more arrests and seizures as the investigation progresses. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act at the Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur.
