Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the tragic loss of life and extensive damage in Uttar Pradesh due to severe weather on Wednesday. Putin expressed sympathy for the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured in the natural disaster. The calamity, including thunderstorm, heavy rain, hailstorm, and lightning strikes, claimed at least 89 lives and left 53 others injured in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the significant destruction and instructed immediate relief and rescue efforts. He extended condolences to the affected families and directed officials to promptly visit the impacted areas to provide aid and compensation to the victims. Adityanath emphasized the importance of conducting rapid ground surveys to facilitate the release of compensation for loss of life, livestock, and crop damage in coordination with relevant departments.
In response to the crisis, the Relief Commissioner’s Office reported the loss of 114 livestock and damage to 87 houses across the state due to adverse weather conditions. The office is actively monitoring the situation by maintaining direct communication with district-level officials and ensuring the timely release of necessary funds to the affected districts. Prayagraj recorded the highest number of casualties with 21 deaths, followed by Sant Ravidas Nagar and Fatehpur with 14 and 11 deaths, respectively, along with fatalities reported in other districts.
