The State of Qatar has strongly denounced the recent attacks aimed at Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed condemnation for the drone attacks originating from Iraqi territory, labeling them as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law. Qatar reiterated its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its commitment to supporting measures to safeguard the kingdom’s security and sovereignty.
Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry reported the interception of drones launched from Iraq targeting oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh regions. The Saudi ministry’s spokesman, Turki Al-Malki, attributed these attacks to Iranian-backed militias and emphasized Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defense and protection of its resources. The Saudi Foreign Ministry also condemned the drone strike, with no group in Iraq claiming responsibility for the incident.
In response to the escalating tensions, a special committee was formed in Iraq to coordinate with Saudi Arabia and the UAE following previous drone attacks allegedly originating from Iraqi territory. The Iraqi Ministerial Council for National Security, chaired by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, vowed to take necessary actions against those responsible if Iraqi territory is confirmed as the launch site.
