The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, praised the recent Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi for achieving significant outcomes. The meeting saw the announcement of new initiatives focusing on maritime surveillance, domain awareness, and coast guard coordination. Gor highlighted the collaboration with Fiji to enhance critical port infrastructure as a key development from the meeting.
The Quad nations, comprising India, Australia, Japan, and the United States, unveiled a Critical Minerals Framework to bolster supply chains in mining, processing, and recycling. This move is aimed at strengthening economic security and reducing vulnerabilities. Additionally, the Quad introduced the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Initiative to enhance cooperation on technology, energy resilience, and emergency preparedness for a more stable region.
The participation of high-ranking officials from the Quad nations, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, underscored the commitment to fostering global good and promoting a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The Quad, formed in response to the 2004 tsunami, continues to prioritize cooperation for regional stability and prosperity.
