Jawaharlal Nehru, born in Allahabad on November 14, 1889, played a pivotal role in India’s independence movement. Elected President of the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress in 1929, Nehru advocated complete independence for India. He served as India’s first Prime Minister from August 15, 1947, until his passing on May 27, 1964, leaving a lasting impact on the nation.
