Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is gearing up to start his campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections with rallies scheduled in North Dinajpur, Malda, and Murshidabad districts. The Congress has accused the Trinamool Congress of destroying a temporary helipad in North Dinajpur’s Raiganj ahead of Gandhi’s visit. District Congress leader Deepa Dasmunsi and Raiganj Congress candidate Mohit Sengupta have raised concerns about this incident.
Deepa Dasmunsi criticized the Trinamool Congress, stating that everyone has the right to hold election meetings and that attempts were made to disrupt Rahul Gandhi’s rally. Former MP Adhir Chowdhury remarked that Gandhi will witness how Trinamool governs West Bengal. Meanwhile, Trinamool leader Arindam Sarkar denied any involvement in the helipad demolition, emphasizing that the party did not intend to hinder Congress’ campaigning efforts.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address an election rally in support of party candidate Mohit Sengupta at Raiganj Stadium. Allegations surfaced that the helipad near the stadium was being dismantled, prompting Congress District General Secretary Tushar Guha to intervene. Guha accused the Trinamool Congress of conspiring to disrupt Gandhi’s planned election meeting, which had been organized with official permissions.
