In a gesture of support for families affected by landslides in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will lay the foundation stone for new houses on Thursday. The initiative aims to aid survivors of the Chooralmala Mundakkai disaster that occurred on July 30, 2024. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a Congress MP, will also attend the ceremony in Kalpetta.
Rahul Gandhi is set to arrive at Kannur airport on Wednesday and will kick off his visit by participating in a farmers’ meet at Peravoor before heading to Kalpetta for the foundation-laying event. The housing project is part of the party’s commitment to help families impacted by the devastating landslides in the region.
Priyanka Gandhi will start her day by joining a DISHA meeting at the Collectorate and later, at 1.30 p.m., she will present advanced equipment to the Forest Department’s Rapid Response Team at the Kalpetta MP’s office. This equipment, acquired through CSR funding from JSW, aims to enhance the team’s operational capabilities in addressing man-animal conflict concerns.
