The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (A.N.T.F.) of CID Crime and Railways conducted a raid in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, resulting in the confiscation of cannabis plants and processed contraband valued at approximately Rs 6.38 lakh. Acting on specific intelligence, a team led by Police Inspector R.V. Patel searched agricultural land and a residential property in Vinchi village, Poshina taluka, on May 17. The raid yielded around 8.060 kilograms of green cannabis plants from cultivated land and 4.700 kilograms of dry cannabis from a residential premises.
Police detained Makana Gamar, a 53-year-old resident of Vinchi village, in connection with the seized contraband. The operation involved multiple personnel, including police inspectors, sub-inspectors, and technical experts, who utilized surveillance inputs to locate the illegal cultivation and storage. Preliminary investigation points to Gamar’s alleged involvement in illegal cultivation and possession of narcotic substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to determine the cultivation source, distribution network, and potential involvement of other individuals. Recent A.N.T.F. operations in Gujarat have led to significant seizures and arrests across the state, emphasizing the unit’s intensified enforcement against drug networks.
