In Siwan, Bihar, district police conducted raids at locations associated with Osama Shahab, the RJD MLA from Raghunathpur and son of late former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin. The raids, led by DIG Nilesh Kumar, targeted Shahab’s official residence in Nawalpur and his ancestral home in Pratappur under the Hussainganj police station limits. A thorough search is ongoing at both sites.
Osama Shahab faces allegations of forcibly encroaching upon a doctor’s land and assaulting and threatening his staff, as per police sources. The case has been registered at the Mahadeva police station in Siwan. Shahab’s bail plea was previously denied by a district court, leading to his reported absconding.
DIG Nilesh Kumar mentioned that the investigation into the land encroachment and extortion case has uncovered vital evidence. Coordinated raids were carried out at multiple locations linked to Shahab following the issuance of a court warrant. The Siwan Police have issued a stern warning against land grabbing activities, emphasizing strict legal action.
The DIG emphasized that individuals attempting to encroach upon others’ land will face legal consequences. Osama Shahab was not present at the raided locations. The police have compiled a list of alleged land mafia in the district, with plans for systematic action against such elements. Enhanced surveillance and a heavy police presence were maintained during the operation.
