Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently assessed Indian Railways’ arrangements for the upcoming annual Ratha Yatra in Puri. The focus was on ensuring safe and comfortable travel for the expected devotees. Vaishnaw checked crowd management, passenger movement, and operational readiness, with plans for over 300 special trains during the festival.
Senior railway officials and local administration provided detailed briefings on the integrated arrangements and operational plans for the smooth conduct of the event. Holding areas in Puri with a capacity for 30,000 devotees are set up, along with additional amenities like food facilities and extra ticket counters. The review emphasized enhancing passenger convenience, safety measures, and overall efficiency during the Ratha Yatra.
The review, conducted in collaboration with the Odisha Government, aimed at seamless railway operations, effective crowd management, and ensuring a secure and pleasant travel experience for devotees. Chief Minister Majhi, in a separate meeting, highlighted the need for coordination among officials and staff to ensure the festival’s smooth execution. Extensive police deployment is planned for security and crowd control during the Ratha Yatra festival.
