The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been actively safeguarding vulnerable children and ensuring passenger safety. Since January to June 2026, the RPF has rescued 430 individuals from railway stations and trains within the NFR network, emphasizing its dedication to child protection and passenger well-being.

During a recent operation from July 18 to July 20, RPF personnel rescued multiple minors from various railway stations and trains. These children were safely handed over to Child Welfare Committees, Child Help Line, and other authorized agencies for proper care and rehabilitation. For instance, a 12-year-old boy was rescued at New Alipurduar Railway Station in West Bengal and handed over to the Child Welfare Committee, Alipurduar.

In another instance, RPF officers at New Bongaigaon in Assam rescued four minor girls traveling by train and ensured their safe transfer to the Child Welfare Committee, Bongaigaon. Similarly, on the same day, a 10-year-old boy was rescued by RPF at Kishanganj in Bihar and handed over to the Child Help Line, Kishanganj.

Further demonstrating their commitment to child protection, RPF personnel at Goalpara in Assam rescued a 13-year-old girl from a train on July 20 and handed her over to the Child Welfare Committee, Goalpara. The RPF, in collaboration with NGO representatives, also rescued a 16-year-old girl at Kamakhya Railway Station in Guwahati and ensured her safe custody with the Railway Child Line, Guwahati.

Northeast Frontier Railway, headquartered near Guwahati, remains dedicated to providing a secure railway environment. The RPF continues to collaborate with various organizations and authorities to protect vulnerable children and reunite them with their families whenever possible.
