Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has accused the Mahayuti government of financial misconduct, claiming that the “Rs 50 crore culture” in Maharashtra politics is a serious issue. Thackeray questioned the source of Rs 2,000 crore allegedly distributed to 40 MLAs during the Shiv Sena split in June 2022.
In a joint interview with Shiv Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray criticized the government for selectively using investigative agencies. He challenged the ruling dispensation to justify the inclusion of individuals labeled as “corrupt” in the cabinet.
Raj Thackeray expressed concerns about the changing demographics of Mumbai, emphasizing the influx of people from North India. He warned that this migration could impact the Marathi vote bank and lead to the separation of Mumbai from Maharashtra. Thackeray framed the upcoming 2026 municipal elections as crucial for preserving Marathi identity.
