Acting on Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau’s orders, the Udaipur Unit conducted a successful operation leading to the arrest of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sunil Bishnoi at Pratapnagar Police Station in Udaipur for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1,00,000. The complaint stated that ASI Sunil Bishnoi, along with two constables, demanded money from a complainant to avoid registering a criminal case against him and to settle a dispute. Negotiations led to the bribe amount being fixed at Rs 1.3 lakh.
During the investigation by the ACB Udaipur team, ASI Sunil Bishnoi accepted Rs 25,000 in cash and reduced the demand by Rs 5,000, instructing the complainant to arrange the remaining Rs 1 lakh promptly. The trap operation, supervised by Deputy Inspector General of Police Rameshwar Singh, resulted in ASI Sunil Bishnoi being caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1 lakh from the complainant at Orbit Resort in New Bhopalpura, Udaipur. Additional interrogation of the accused is ongoing under the guidance of senior officials, with searches being conducted at ASI Sunil Bishnoi’s residence.
