Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena assured the Assembly that the state government has met farmers’ fertiliser needs, even surpassing demand in some cases. He highlighted strict actions taken against black marketers and sellers of fake fertilisers and seeds. Meena mentioned upcoming stringent laws by the Central Government to ensure quality and continuous seed and fertiliser supply, with penalties of up to 20 years in prison and a Rs 20 lakh fine for violations.

Effective state government management prevented past issues in fertiliser distribution, as shared by the Minister in response to queries during the Question Hour. He credited the extended monsoon for maintaining soil moisture and expanding the sowing area. Meena disclosed that during 2024-25, the state provided 29.29 lakh metric tonnes of urea against a demand of 26.20 lakh metric tonnes, with plans to stock additional urea and DAP for February and March.

Officers were stationed at fertiliser distribution centers to ensure quality control, with 27 factories sealed for seed and fertiliser violations. Comparing the current government’s tenure with the previous Congress regime, Meena noted an increase in FIRs related to seed issues. He also outlined the urea and DAP demands sent to the Government of India for upcoming crop seasons, emphasizing timely submissions during zonal conferences.

To maintain uninterrupted fertiliser supply, alternatives like NPK and SSP were provided alongside DAP, with 2.61 lakh metric tonnes of NPK and 4.73 lakh metric tonnes of SSP made available.
