Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma of Rajasthan marked National Technology Day by unveiling the Brahmagupta Award, recognizing outstanding achievements in science, mathematics, innovation, and research. The award, named after the renowned seventh-century mathematician Brahmagupta, aims to honor exceptional contributions in these fields. Additionally, he announced the establishment of an Innovation Centre in Jaipur to foster creativity, startups, and technological entrepreneurship among the youth.
Sharma emphasized the importance of curiosity-driven individuals who overcome challenges to succeed. He urged the youth to embrace innovation, envisioning Rajasthan as a global technology leader contributing to India’s self-reliance. The Chief Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting young innovators, encouraging them to leverage initiatives like My Bharat, iStart, and the Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme.
Speaking at the state-level National Technology Day event in Jaipur, Sharma highlighted May 11 as a symbol of self-confidence and national pride, reflecting on India’s 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests. He emphasized India’s shift from a technology consumer to a creator and exporter, citing achievements in vaccine development, space missions, and indigenous defense projects like Tejas fighter aircraft and Arjun tanks.
Sharma announced the establishment of a state-level Drone Cell to promote applications of Artificial Intelligence and modern technology in disaster management and agriculture. He also introduced an Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning policy to ensure responsible technology use. To enhance scientific education, Science Clubs and robotics laboratories are being set up in schools, fostering youth confidence and expanding employment opportunities.
