Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma initiated the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan-Jan Abhiyan – 2026’ at Bisalpur Dam in Tonk on Ganga Dashami. The campaign, starting on May 25 and ending on June 5, aims to promote water conservation and awareness activities at the village level. CM Sharma highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing the importance of water conservation for the state.

The Chief Minister underscored the role of Mother Ganga in sustaining life and announced the relaunch of last year’s successful conservation campaign. He urged active participation from Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and the public to ensure the campaign’s success. Emphasizing the criticality of water, he called for collective efforts to preserve this vital resource.

During his visit to Bisalpur Dam, CM Sharma inspected the SCADA system, crucial for monitoring and managing dam operations. He stressed the dam’s importance in providing uninterrupted drinking water to eastern Rajasthan districts. The Chief Minister directed officials to enhance infrastructure, recharge the Banas River, and implement effective measures for rainwater harvesting and groundwater replenishment.

Under the ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Mass Campaign,’ various activities such as cleaning water bodies, community forums, rallies, and plantation drives will be conducted across Rajasthan. The campaign will also witness the inauguration of new water conservation projects and the completion of ongoing works. Public Health Engineering Minister Kanhaiya Lal and other officials joined the Chief Minister in launching this significant initiative.
