Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced the renaming of Mount Abu to “Aburaj” during a gathering in Sirohi district. This change aims to honor local sentiments and the saint community, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while promoting development.
Sharma highlighted that the renaming signifies respect for culture, heritage, public faith, and devotees’ sentiments. He mentioned that this move aligns with efforts to eliminate colonial-era symbols and strengthen national pride, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Underlining the importance of cultural consciousness, Sharma cited various national landmarks and institutions that have undergone renaming to reinforce India’s identity and heritage. During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 41 development projects in Sirohi district, totaling over Rs 74 crore.
Sharma emphasized the government’s focus on development while safeguarding Rajasthan’s historical and cultural legacy. The state aims to position “Aburaj” as a prominent destination for tourism, infrastructure, and public welfare, reflecting a vision that balances heritage preservation with progress.
