Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma led a high-level meeting to assess the expansion strategies of the Jaipur Metro, urging officials to ensure the inclusion of key locations in future phases. Stressing the significance of accessible public transport, Sharma affirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing Jaipur’s urban mobility through the metro network.
He directed officials to prioritize connectivity in densely populated areas and ensure the smooth integration of new corridors with existing metro lines. Sharma underscored the importance of timely project development and cost control, especially in anticipation of future needs. The meeting discussed proposed alignments for metro expansion following the Budget 2025–26 announcement regarding the preparation of a Detailed Project Report for extending the metro network to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar.
A comprehensive Master Plan is set to be developed to extend the metro network to key areas such as Amer, Bagrana (Agra Road), Jagatpura, and ISBT Heerapura, considering the city’s expanding population and future urban requirements. Sharma also evaluated the progress of ongoing metro projects, including Phase-2, Phase-1C (Badi Chaupar–Transport Nagar), and Phase-1D (Mansarovar–Ajmer Road Crossing). The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary (Finance) and Managing Director of Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited Vaibhav Galriya, and Commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority Siddharth Mahajan, among others from Jaipur Metro and JDA.
