Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma criticized former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for questioning his visits to Delhi, sparking a fresh political clash in the state. Without naming Gehlot, Sharma indirectly referred to the 2020 political crisis, highlighting differences in their work styles. Sharma emphasized his government’s commitment to continuous work and serving the people diligently without interruptions.
Addressing the ‘Rajasthan Yuva Shakti Diwas’ program, part of Rajasthan Diwas celebrations, Sharma underscored the round-the-clock efforts of his government and public representatives towards citizens’ welfare. He accused the opposition of shirking accountability and avoiding comparisons between his government’s two-year performance and their five-year tenure.
Responding to criticism regarding his Delhi visits, Sharma defended his actions, stating that his priorities were aligned with the welfare of Rajasthan’s people. He dismissed opposition critiques, asserting that they would not hinder his government’s operations. Sharma also highlighted alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission during the previous Congress government, vowing to take strict action against any wrongdoing.
Sharma pointed out positive outcomes from his recent Delhi trip, citing concrete results from his meetings. He claimed improvements in the state’s financial indicators, mentioning a reduction in fiscal deficit and an increase in per capita income. Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s Leader of Opposition, Tika Ram Jully, condemned Sharma’s comments, labeling them inappropriate and insensitive. Jully demanded an apology, criticizing the remarks about Gehlot’s health as undermining the office’s dignity.
The verbal sparring between the two leaders has heightened political tensions in Rajasthan, setting the stage for significant upcoming political events.
