Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra criticized the state government for allegedly delaying the Panchayat and urban body elections out of fear of losing. Dotasra claimed that the OBC Commission was not formed on time to hinder the electoral process. He emphasized that elections should be held within five years as per the Constitution, except during Covid-19 with Supreme Court approval.
Dotasra, while traveling with Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, accused the government of using excuses like delimitation and pending reports to postpone elections. He insisted that elections should proceed even without the OBC Commission report, citing Supreme Court observations. Dotasra announced plans for Congress leaders to tour districts and expose alleged bureaucratic misuse in local bodies.
LoP Jully also criticized the Centre’s foreign policy, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent Israel visit. He expressed concerns over the increasing fuel and LPG prices, highlighting the challenges faced by people due to long queues at petrol pumps and gas agencies. Jully accused the government of making claims while the public suffers.
