Rajasthan couple Swati and Rajat Chauhan have been chosen to represent India in the Asia Cup archery competition in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 21 to 28. Swati and Rajat, both Arjuna Awardees, were selected during trials at the Sports Authority of India Eastern Centre in Kolkata. This selection marks them as the first couple from Rajasthan to compete internationally.
Swati, currently working at the State Secretariat in Jaipur, and Rajat, a DSP with the Rajasthan Police, tied the knot in a traditional ceremony in Jaipur in December 2025. The couple, known for their archery prowess and multiple medals for India, received warm wishes from renowned archers like Deepika Kumari, Atanu Das, and others.
Yogendra Singh from Rajasthan has been appointed as the coach of the Indian team for the Asia Cup. Singh mentioned that a strong squad has been chosen by the Archery Association of India for the championship. The team underwent rigorous training in Pune and Kolkata to prepare for the competition in Bangkok.
The Indian squad, led by the talented Chauhan, is anticipated to perform well, especially in the compound section where India has a history of winning medals. Rajat Chauhan, a decorated archer with various international accolades, has been a consistent performer at major events, securing medals at the Asian Games and World Championships.
Swati, on the other hand, has also showcased her skills on the international stage, winning gold at the World Archery University Championships and bronze at other prestigious events. Her success includes a bronze medal at the Khelo India Women’s National Ranking Archery Tournament in Bhopal. The couple’s journey to represent India in the Asia Cup is a testament to their dedication and talent in the sport.
