In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directives following a meeting on the evolving West Asia situation, Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas held a high-level review meeting with department heads at the State Secretariat. The meeting focused on assessing the availability and distribution of essential items like LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilisers in the state. Srinivas assured that Rajasthan has ample stocks of these commodities, urging coordinated efforts to maintain smooth supply chains and alleviate any concerns among the public.
The Chief Secretary highlighted the improved supply scenario, attributing it to increased domestic LPG production and diversified sourcing beyond West Asia. He emphasized the importance of ensuring uninterrupted supply to domestic consumers, hospitals, and institutions, with a resumption of commercial LPG cylinder distribution. Srinivas specifically instructed the Agriculture Department to prevent any shortage of fertilisers for farmers, stressing the need to curb diversion or black marketing while promoting the use of nano urea and bio-fertilisers.
To enhance long-term energy security, Srinivas prioritized the expansion of PNG connections, setting a target of 5 lakh connections for rapid achievement and advocating for extended pipeline infrastructure. Oil and gas companies were directed to collaborate with relevant departments to facilitate this expansion. Additionally, he mandated the effective implementation of welfare schemes, daily price monitoring reports, and stringent measures against hoarding and black marketing practices.
Emphasizing the prevention of panic buying and dissemination of accurate information, Srinivas urged the Information and Public Relations Department to issue regular updates to maintain public trust. He underscored the need for heightened security at storage facilities, swift resolution of helpline complaints, establishment of additional EV charging points, and promotion of public transport and retrofitted vehicles. The Chief Secretary also mentioned providing necessary support to Rajasthan residents employed in Gulf countries amid the global situation, reiterating the state’s readiness with ample reserves and efficient governance mechanisms.
