The Rajasthan government has initiated an investigation into the power failure incident at the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Jaipur. The outage occurred during a media interaction attended by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and State Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar. Minister Nagar has stressed zero tolerance for negligence in public services like electricity supply and vowed strict action against responsible officials.
Minister Heeralal Nagar has demanded a detailed report from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam and Jaipur Discom officials regarding the disruption. The power failure incident on June 11 at 3:57 p.m. was linked to maintenance work addressing an SF-6 gas leak in the circuit breaker of the 220 kV Kota Thermal Power Station line at the 400 kV Grid Substation (GSS).
Officials reported that the power disruption affected areas served by the 220 kV GSS NPH and 132 kV substations, including Chambal, Vaishali Nagar, Bhankrota, and the Public Works Department Bungalow areas. Electricity supply was restored within 10 to 17 minutes by transferring the load to alternate transformers. An inquiry committee, led by the Jaipur Additional Chief Engineer (MPT&S) Dashrath Singh, has been formed to investigate the incident and recommend preventive measures.
The Rajasthan Energy Minister has reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state. Strengthening power infrastructure is a top priority, and accountability will be enforced if negligence is proven during the investigation. The power outage disrupted a media event at the state BJP office, with attendees resorting to mobile phone flashlights until power was restored.
