Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari revealed to the Assembly that the state government has readied a Detailed Project Report (DPR) valued at Rs 275.68 crore for executing the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit Development Plan. The Review Committee, led by the Rajasthan Heritage Authority, endorsed the proposed works under this DPR on February 3, 2026. This initiative aims to create employment opportunities for local communities through new tourism circuits and schemes, prioritizing maximum employment for residents.
Developing the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit will not only provide opportunities for local material suppliers and workers but also benefit various tourism-related sectors like tour operators, guides, hotels, parking services, cafeterias, souvenir shops, handicrafts, and homestay operators. The Tourism Minister assured that consultations with local authorities will precede the development of assets under this scheme to ensure proper maintenance and operation. Regular monitoring by the District Tourism Development Committee, overseen by the District Collector, will be in place.
In response to queries from MLA Deepti Kiran Maheshwari during Question Hour, the Tourism Minister mentioned that while there is no current provision to link the circuit to any digital promotion scheme, the department plans to promote the destinations through various media channels. The State Budget 2024-25 allocated Rs 100 crore for the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit’s development, covering significant sites associated with Maharana Pratap’s life. The Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation and the Rajasthan Heritage Authority have been tasked as implementing agencies for the project.
Financial and administrative approval amounting to Rs 100 crore was granted in January 2025 for the DPR preparation, with Rs 2.83 lakh already spent on the Concept Project Report (CPR). Given the project’s significance to Mewar’s pride and public faith, extensive consultations were conducted at various levels to incorporate suggestions received into the DPR. The financial approval process for the DPR is ongoing, paving the way for subsequent development works.
