The Rajasthan government recently inked MoUs with institutions like the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the Foreign Language Communication Skills Programme. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the state’s youth’s potential for hard work, innovation, and cultural adaptability, emphasizing the shift towards skill enhancement over degrees.
Pradhan mentioned the potential employment opportunities linked to foreign language proficiency, especially with the proposed free trade agreement with the European Union. He stressed the importance of language as a tool for understanding and connecting societies, citing the National Education Policy 2020’s focus on multilingual and global education.
Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, praised the emphasis on mother tongues in early education under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma commended the government’s efforts to empower youth by providing transparent examinations and creating employment opportunities, encouraging them to excel nationally and globally by learning foreign languages.
Sharma highlighted the significance of foreign language skills in Rajasthan’s tourism sector, noting the increased employment opportunities for individuals proficient in languages like French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean due to the state’s growing tourism industry.
