Rajasthan Governor and Universities Chancellor, Haribhau Bagde, has promptly ousted Prof. (Dr.) Devswaroop, the initial Vice-Chancellor of Baba Amte Divyang University in Jaipur, and the interim Vice-Chancellor of Vishwakarma Skill University, due to irregularities in appointments. The removal was ordered following a high-level inquiry that revealed violations of rules and procedures in recruitment processes during Dr. Devswaroop’s tenure.
The decision to remove Vice-Chancellor Prof. Devswaroop was made in consultation with the state government after allegations of arbitrary appointments and bypassing university regulations surfaced. An inquiry committee, led by educationist Dr. Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat, found evidence of procedural violations and irregularities in recruitment under Dr. Devswaroop’s leadership at Rajasthan University. The committee scrutinized recruitment documents, interview assessments, and compliance with University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.
Concerns were raised regarding compliance with reservation policies and UGC regulations, prompting disciplinary action resulting in Dr. Devswaroop’s immediate removal from office. The Governor’s office took swift action based on the inquiry report, which highlighted serious irregularities and discriminatory practices in the selection process.
