Rajasthan marked a significant milestone by launching its initial semiconductor plant and Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Bhiwadi, stepping into India’s rapidly growing semiconductor landscape. The inauguration, led virtually by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster established by ELCINA in Khushkhera, Bhiwadi, alongside Sahasra Semiconductors’ semiconductor ATMP/OSAT facility. This move aligns with the government’s efforts to position India as a key global electronics and chip manufacturing hub.
Vaishnaw, addressing the audience, emphasized the historic significance of Rajasthan’s entry into the semiconductor industry, acknowledging India’s substantial progress in electronics manufacturing over the past 12 years. He highlighted a six-fold increase in production to nearly Rs 13 lakh crore, with exports reaching approximately Rs 4.24 lakh crore. The Minister attributed this growth to initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Furthermore, Vaishnaw outlined the role of various schemes such as the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC), India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) programs in fostering India’s semiconductor ecosystem through collaborations with state governments and industry stakeholders.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma shared that the state introduced the Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy in March 2026, focusing on transforming the Delhi-NCR adjacent region into a prominent manufacturing center. Additionally, Bhupender Yadav highlighted the transition of the Bhiwadi region from an automobile manufacturing hub to a burgeoning center for semiconductor and electronics industries.
The Bhiwadi Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, developed across 50.3 acres with a project cost of Rs 46.09 crore, received direct support of Rs 20.24 crore from the Indian Government under the EMC scheme.
