A man from Rajasthan, Rajuram Bishnoi, aged 40 and a businessman from Danta (Bawaliya) village, has been arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch in connection with a mephedrone seizure in Ahmedabad. Bishnoi is accused of supplying 412 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 12.36 lakh, which was confiscated in Ahmedabad the previous month.
The arrest followed a raid conducted by officers near Ganesh Selection shop in the Ghee Kanta area of Ahmedabad based on specific intelligence. Two individuals, Malaram Devasi (Rabari) and Ashokkumar Darji, were apprehended during the operation for possessing 412 grams of mephedrone without legal authorization.
The Detection of Crime Branch registered an offense under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the seizure. Subsequent investigations unveiled Bishnoi’s alleged involvement in the drug supply chain. He is also wanted in another NDPS case in Rajasthan and has a history of criminal cases in the state.
Officials disclosed that Bishnoi faces charges in various criminal cases, including theft and multiple NDPS violations. The police are currently delving into the interstate narcotics network and the origins of the seized mephedrone.
