Rajasthan Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara highlighted the influence of international supply disruptions and unrest in the Gulf region on the global energy market. Notably, crude oil prices have surged by around 34% in the past month. To mitigate potential inconveniences for consumers, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have been directed to maintain smooth operations.
In response to the situation, measures have been taken under the Essential Commodities Act to ensure ample availability of LPG cylinders for household use and ramp up production. Additionally, a temporary halt on commercial LPG cylinder supply has been imposed until stability is restored, focusing on averting shortages for domestic users.
Godara emphasized the importance of safeguarding domestic gas supply amidst challenges in global logistics, particularly disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Assuring the public, he stated that India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, possesses ample reserves of petrol and diesel to prevent any consumer hardships. The Ministry of Petroleum has instructed refineries to boost gas production to normalize the situation promptly.
