The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rajasthan apprehended a patwari in Rajsamand district for allegedly taking a bribe related to a land mutation issue. The accused, named Rahul Kumar Sharma, was serving at Sema Patwar Circle and Bada Bhanuja in Khamnor tehsil. He was caught red-handed during a trap set by the ACB’s Intelligence Unit in Udaipur after a recent complaint.
The complainant accused the patwari of demanding Rs 7,000 to start mutation proceedings for a land transfer done through a gift deed. Initially, the accused accepted Rs 1,000 and later took an additional Rs 4,000 during the trap operation. The ACB mentioned that the accused tried to destroy evidence upon realizing the ACB team’s approach.
Authorities disclosed that the accused disposed of the bribe money in a toilet at his official residence. The cash was later retrieved based on the accused’s information. The operation was overseen by Dr. Rameshwar Singh and led by Dr. Sonu Shekhawat, with Police Inspector Rajendra Singh heading the team. A case has been filed under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, with ongoing investigations and legal actions.
In a separate incident, the ACB arrested a police constable, Sitaram Meena, at Ramganj Police Station for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,500 concerning passport verification tasks. The arrest followed a trap operation by the Jaipur City-IV Unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. The complainant had sought passport verifications for himself, his spouse, and child, which were assigned to Constable Sitaram Meena.
