Rajasthan Police recently undertook a major operation targeting organized criminal groups in 19 districts, identifying 1,276 criminals associated with gangs like Rohit Godara and Lawrence. This operation led to the arrest of 214 criminals and the confiscation of illegal weapons, drugs, vehicles, and electronic devices. Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma emphasized that the goal was to create a safe environment by dismantling criminal networks engaged in activities such as illegal arms possession and extortion.
A comprehensive cordon-and-search operation was initiated in various districts, including Jaipur and Jodhpur Commissionerates. The operation specifically focused on apprehending 383 individuals linked to the mentioned gangs, identifying 534 local gang members, and tracing 359 wanted criminals. Police carried out extensive raids at multiple locations, compiling detailed information on 428 gang members for future actions against organized crime.
During the operation, a total of 214 absconding and wanted criminals were apprehended, including individuals wanted on warrants and other offenders. The police also seized a significant amount of evidence, including vehicles, mobile phones, and electronic devices. Additionally, the authorities registered cases under the Arms Act, recovering pistols, country-made pistols, cartridges, knives, and daggers.
In parallel, multiple cases were registered under the NDPS Act, resulting in the seizure of heroin, smack, opium, marijuana, and poppy husk. Notably, a substantial number of opium plants were destroyed in Jhunjhunu district, and members of criminal gangs were arrested in different locations with illicit items. The police’s operations extended to various districts, leading to the identification of numerous criminals and the confiscation of narcotics.
DGP Rajiv Kumar Sharma highlighted that the coordinated statewide operation has significantly disrupted organized crime networks. Rajasthan Police is committed to ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and uphold public safety.
