The Rajasthan Police’s recently launched e-Zero FIR system for cyber financial fraud has quickly yielded results, with seven e-Zero FIRs filed within the initial 18 hours of its introduction. This initiative, overseen by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma, facilitates the automatic registration of e-Zero FIRs for cyber fraud cases involving Rs 1 lakh or more, enabling swift legal action by the police.

Under this new system, a total of 460 e-Zero FIRs have been registered, a significant stride towards providing prompt assistance to cybercrime victims. Additional Director General (Cyber Crime) V.K. Singh highlighted the increased momentum in Rajasthan Police’s fight against cybercrime following the implementation of this new mechanism.

Complaints lodged through the ‘1930’ Cyber Helpline are seamlessly linked to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre’s (I4C) National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) under the integrated system. This integration ensures immediate transmission of complaints to the relevant police station for prompt action, reducing jurisdiction-related delays and enhancing response times significantly.

The streamlined process directs complaints straight to the appropriate investigating agency, cutting down on delays and expediting legal actions. Moreover, this system empowers the police to swiftly take actions like freezing suspicious bank accounts and tracing fraudulent transactions, thereby increasing the chances of recovering funds lost to cyber fraud. Rajasthan Police urges cyber fraud victims to report incidents promptly by calling the ‘1930’ Cyber Helpline to enhance the chances of recovering defrauded amounts.
