Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) has achieved a significant milestone at its Suratgarh and Chhabra thermal power stations by unloading coal rakes continuously without facing any demurrage charges. The Suratgarh Super Thermal Power Project, generating 1,500 MW, unloaded over 750 coal rakes without demurrage between September 4, 2025, and May 23, 2026. Similarly, the Chhabra Thermal Power Project, producing 1,000 MW, unloaded 521 coal rakes without demurrage between November 2, 2025, and May 23, 2026.
By avoiding demurrage charges through timely unloading, RVUNL has effectively managed coal transportation costs, ensuring affordable electricity generation for consumers. This success is credited to the efficient operation and maintenance of coal handling systems at both thermal power stations, supported by the dedicated efforts of employees engaged in continuous coal unloading operations.
The achievement surpasses RVUNL’s previous record set by the Suratgarh Thermal Power Station, where 485 coal rakes were unloaded without demurrage between February 27 and July 27, 2025. Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar commended the management and employees of both power stations for this accomplishment, expressing confidence in other power plants under the corporation to maintain similar operational efficiency standards.
Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra also praised the achievement and congratulated RVUNL Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shringi and his team. She urged all generating stations to embrace enhanced operational practices, foster teamwork, and strive for even greater performance levels. Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shringi characterized the milestone as a testament to effective management and employee dedication, emphasizing the hard work, coordination, and operational efficiency of their teams.
This achievement marks a significant advancement in improving fuel management, reducing operational costs, and ensuring dependable power generation throughout Rajasthan.
