Rajasthan Royals (RR) are dealing with a setback as England’s all-rounder Sam Curran is expected to miss the upcoming IPL 2026 season due to a suspected groin injury. Curran, 27, who last played for England in the Men’s T20 World Cup, is now unlikely to participate in the tournament for RR, the former IPL champions. He was set to debut for RR after being traded from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in November 2025.
Curran and Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were part of a swap deal with RR, where wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson moved to CSK. Samson, who was named Player of the Tournament at the Men’s T20 World Cup, will now represent CSK in the IPL starting on March 28. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have faced a setback as pacer Nathan Ellis will miss the competition due to a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is expected to miss the initial matches of the IPL with Punjab Kings (PBKS) to spend time with his newborn child. Ferguson took a short paternity leave during the T20 World Cup and aims to return for the later stages of the IPL. He expressed his joy at playing for the Black Caps and highlighted the importance of balancing cricket with family time, emphasizing the privilege of playing in front of home crowds.
