Rajasthan Royals (RR), the winners of the first IPL edition, have enlisted Punjab left-arm spinner Emanjot Chahal to fill in for the injured wicketkeeper-batter Ravi Singh. Ravi sustained a hamstring injury during a match against Delhi Capitals on May 17, leading to his withdrawal from the rest of the IPL 2026. Emanjot Chahal, a 21-year-old all-rounder from Patiala, has a top score of 83 in first-class cricket and has taken 11 wickets in three matches with his left-arm spin. He will join RR for a fee of INR 30 lakh.
RR is set to play against Mumbai Indians in their final league stage match at the Wankhede Stadium, with their playoff chances hanging by a thread. A victory will secure them a spot in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad as the fourth-placed team in the points table. However, a loss will force them to rely on other match outcomes to advance to the last four. RR will require Punjab Kings to lose to Lucknow Super Giants and for Kolkata Knight Riders to be defeated by Delhi Capitals to progress.
With KKR’s match scheduled after theirs, RR, currently holding the fourth spot on the points table with 14 points, aims to secure a win against MI to maintain their position. Earlier in the season, RR defeated MI by 27 runs in a rain-affected match in Guwahati, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 77.
