The Special Operations Group (SOG) in Rajasthan has taken significant action in a case involving fraud and manipulation of examination results in three recruitment exams by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSMSSB). These exams include the Supervisor (Women Empowerment) Direct Recruitment Examination-2018, Laboratory Assistant Recruitment Examination–2018, and Agriculture Supervisor Recruitment Examination–2018.
According to Additional Director General of Police, SOG, Rajasthan, Vishal Bansal, a total of 3,212 posts were advertised under these exams, with 9,40,038 applicants. The exams took place in 2019, and the scanning of OMR sheets and result processing were outsourced to Rahav Limited, New Delhi.
During the investigation, it was discovered that employees of the firm altered the examination data after scanning the OMR sheets. Marks of selected candidates were falsely increased to ensure the selection of ineligible candidates. Serious discrepancies were found between the actual marks and the final results upon re-scanning the original OMR sheets by the Board.
Sanjay Mathur, the then Deputy Director at RSMSSB, was found to have played a significant role in the conspiracy by manipulating exam results. He colluded with employees of the outsourced firm to provide undue benefits to favored candidates by digitally altering scanned OMR sheets.
The accused, including Sanjay Mathur and Praveen Gangwal, have been arrested following an intensive investigation. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Rajasthan Public Examinations Act, and Information Technology Act. The investigation is ongoing to uncover additional beneficiaries and the full extent of the examination scam.
