The Rajasthan tableau, showcased at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, has been honored with the Popular Choice Award, sharing the accolade with tableaux from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Rajasthan’s Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism, Art, Literature, and Culture, Praveen Gupta, accepted the award in New Delhi at a ceremony held at the Defence Institute in Mahipalpur. The tableau, inspired by Bikaner’s Usta art, secured the third position in the Popular Choice category at the Republic Day Parade 2026.
The ranking for the award was determined through a nationwide public poll on the ‘MyGov platform’, with Gujarat clinching the first position, Uttar Pradesh the second, and Rajasthan the third. Titled “The Golden Touch of the Desert,” the Rajasthan tableau, presented by the Rajasthan Department of Art, Literature, and Culture, showcased the exquisite golden Usta art of Bikaner, highlighting its intricate craftsmanship, royal heritage, and cultural significance. Demonstrating India’s traditional arts as a pillar of cultural pride, self-reliance, and soft power, the tableau transitioned from the sands of Rajasthan to Kartavya Path.
The enthusiastic public response underscored the significance of India’s rich heritage, skilled artisans, and vibrant cultural traditions, reflecting the essence of the nation. The success of the Rajasthan tableau not only brought pride to the state but also honored the artisans of Bikaner, elevating their traditional art form to national and international acclaim on a prestigious platform.
